Skunk, grass, rocky, solid. Whatever you call it.

What are your thoughts on it?

( I like starting a debate before I've put my own views across =) )

I've never personally tried it but I do believe that it can be used for medical reasons but then again it can also cause medical problems.

=|

but for personal use, for just getting high, I don't really approve but really it's the persons choice it doesn't matter to me.

I just wish that people wouldn't abuse it that way they do but, yet again, it's not my body so I have no say and any substance will be abused no matter what it is.

I totally agree that it can be used for medical reasons, and be used for pleasure at that persons will.

I use it sparingly, but it just makes me think sometimes, cigarettes are so much more harmful, the only reason that weed is harmful is because its got tobacco in it!

Never used it and wouldn't start. Fair play to anyone that wants to use it for their own devices, but it's just not for me.

The worst thing is the amount of trouble it causes. People get addicted, they get in debt, and it can cause fights ect.

Pros: You don't get addicted to weed. On its own, weed has no tobacco and no nicotine.
Cons: It damages and kills brain cells. When you mix it with cigarette 'insides' so you can make it into a joint it then has nicotine and tobacco and all the other carcenogens.

I've tried it a few times and I don't like it. It tasted of burning. Major uncool.

Fair points. I do enjoy it sometimes, not often, but sometimes.

The reason you can't get addicted to it is because it has no withdrawel symptons its all in the mind really, people think they are addicted when there not.

I don't really have a problem with it because its only a class C drug

did you know if alcahol was invented now, they would class it as a Class A drug

Josh

No I didn't know that about Alcohol, its quite shocking!

Amy

Yeah but weren't they going to change the Class? Surely that says something about it's effects.

Although it doesnt damage you as much as smoking may do, As Jack said it eats at your brain cells and what you actually so WHILE you're high is probably far more dangerous.

As it happens, my friend came up to me while I was waiting to get breakfast from college telling me about his "trip" last night. Apparently he sketched out and said that the teapots were coming to get him. He tried to jump out a window.
Scary stuff.

change the class of what?

They did change the class of weed. It was B now its C, I think THAT says something about it.

Yes but, thats about the old strains of cannabis.

There are new strains which are more dangerous and toxic.

thats why gordan brown and many police chiefs are trying to get it reclassified as a class B drug

I have to admit, I've tried it once and never again!

It tasted disgusting.
it tastes like your mouth in the morning after a really heavy night

maybe that's just me? i dunno

But it tastes horrid anyhoo, i wouldn't advise on trying it =P

It's not for me. I don't really like anything that makes me lose control of myself (as in, rational thinking). Plus, it eats your brain cells and can give you cancer if you smoke some with nicotine in it.
But for terminally ill patients who're going to die anyway, then I'm fine with it. If it helps to take the pain away, then go right ahead!

Cannabis can have beneificial effects.
But it can also be dangerous.

I've smoked weed a few times, and I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it was pretty fun.

No I mean they were going to put it up again.. THAT says something about it.
I had a dream about weed last night. Someone was looking for it and it was hidden in a stapler on a staircase. o_O
Anyway.
Apparently they're making weed available in like a "sweet machine" form... Like you put in money, turn the thing and a bit falls out.. It's for medicianal purposes though and you need a pass card to access the machine or something.. but it costs 25 cents or something... Cant remember exactly. But yeah. I thought that was pretty stupid.

Well, my parents are extremely heavy smokers, and I started experimenting with cigarettes at an early age (9 or 10; I was smoking almost regularly when I was 12) and because of that I'm strongly against addictive substances on a personal level...

However, on a societal level: As far as weed goes, people are going to do it anyway, and to be honest I'd rather have it legalized so people don't use weed laced with anything else... I have a friend that does use weed almost regularly and the only two times I've ever gotten furious with him was on Green Day (aka 4/21 or Pot Day; he came to school slightly high and since we go to an exclusive school I almost slapped him for being stupid) and another time when he brought it to school with his lunch (STUPID). And I've seen so many people, relationships, and friendships ruined by alcohol- a legal drug- that I can't see pot being much worse... Smoking one or two joints is probably safer then drinking 3 or more glasses of beer like some alcoholics.

On a political level: Well, I'm a libertarian, and I agree with their policies that drugs like marijuana should be legalized and taxed. :p This way, money can be made off the drugs (hopefully leading to lower taxes; in my corrupt concrete jungle- Chicago- maybe not, but in other places who knows...), drug empires would collapse, and hopefully fewer people would do it since the urge to get high as a form of rebellion would go away... Studies have shown that after an initial rise in usage the rates fall again, so there's not going to be as much harm as people think. (Saying "everyone will get high!" is similar to prohibitionists saying "everyone will get drunk!"... Yes, I have seen alcohol ruin many things, but the vast majority of people are not getting drunk and many individuals are choosing not to drink on their own. Plus, alcoholics are often- and this is both a good and bad thing- ridiculed and embarrassed into quitting, and people that are doing stupid things because of alcohol are often held responsible now... The days of husbands beating their wives and the wives keeping quiet about it to preserve the family’s honor are going away now that divorce is an option and people are more open about domestic violence.

I agree with you... 77% of people in US jails are there due to some drug offense, and I feel like it would be eaiser (and safer) if some drugs were legalized, regulated, and taxed. annnnnnd its more dangerous to drive under the influnce of alcohol than marijuana.

Love this debate. Its turned somewhat. I agree with everyone who believes it should be legalised, and those who know its not as bad as alcohol. Its just fact.

A lot of people feel the same way, but a big problem is that there seems to be social stigma when it comes to weed... If you support its legalization, you are automatically thought to be on it yourself. That's just something I noticed from being in school... Plus, if politicians support it and they aren't libertarians, they get it slapped back in their face.

People have to realize that banning things doesn't stop the problem. For example, I don't know about any of you, but I support the right to bear arms... I think people should be allowed to keep guns in self defense. But, whenever I say this, people start with the "zomg you're so violent!" bull****. >,< A less extreme example is movie ratings... Making movies rated R when they should be pg-13 isn't going to stop kids from seeing them.
