Gay Blood Donors

Some of you may not be aware that in many countries gay people are not, or never will be allowed to donate blood.
The National Blood services have taken a very stereotypical view against gay people and makes it seem as though every gay person has HIV. All they say to straight people is "please dont donate blood if you think you have HIV".
What about the gay people? They dont get a choice.
Even though the blood is tested, they do not care or give gay people a chance.
To combat this, i have made a petition.

Yeh there might be a delay in the email depending on what email youre using and if the server is busy.
Emails might be sent into your junk mail so make sure to check junk too, if you dont get the email let me know and i'll manually verify you.

Signed it. Tried to give blood when I was 16 and they wouldn't let me because I said on the questionaire I was gay. I went mad. Still think its disgusting. Brilliant that you're protesting but if I'm honest I don't think it will ever change. 1 in 10 gay people are HIV+ , its just a simple fact that more gay people have it than straight. A sad fact. But yeah, they screen the blood before they pass it on anyway so I don't see why we're banned.

gahh i cant sign it since i do not live in the UK, yea to get around this though i do not tell them that i am gay because i have type O blood which i believe all blood types can accept
just cuz im gay doesnt mean that my blood doesnt work just as well if not better than some straight peoples blood

Yeah it's like that here.
One of the questions you have to fill out is 'have you ever had sex with someone of the same gender?'
And another is 'Have you ever had anal sex?'
And another is simply, 'Have you kissed someone of the same gender in the last year?'
Seriously?!
I just gave blood the other day.

Although..
New Mexico or Arizona or some place is making it so you can donate as soon as your tattoo heals, not a year after. Which is good.
