so um im not sure if it belongs here but w/e
So i found it utterly disturbing that they teach christianity, jewish, hindu, budist, ect.
But as a wiccan i get fairly ****ed how most school lack the teaching of paganism, im not sure if that is how it is in Europe but id love to meet a school other then my crazy charter school that isnt revolving around the main relegions? Im sure im not the only one thats fairly ****ed bout this, but id like to hear you guys thoughts bout this subject and if its reasonable or not that they dont really teach paganism in schools

p.s.= when i say teach i mean teach about the religion

It's like that here too, they only teach you about the main religions and where i am we were taught mostly on Christianity.

But you really can't expect school's to teach EVERY religion because:

A] There are far too many to cover.
B] Some religions (like all religions - in my opinion) are made up (although i still believe in a God).

I think it mainly has to do with people willing to teach the religions.
As it is, Wicca tends to be less popular than most religions.
I'm sure if you had people on School Governments who wouldn't mind the religion being taught, as long as someone is willing to teach about the religion.

But again, it would have to go through the government...and...well..people aren't open minded enough.

I wouldn't mind taking a class on Wicca, actually.
Had there been a class for it in any of my schools, I would have chosen it.
Especially over Bible Study.
Which I think goes against the Seperation of Church and state thing..but you know..whatevs.

i dont mean like each sub division of the religions, pretty much pagan, christianity, not like wicca, and roman catholic, ect.

i mean like, in the US, your not allowed to teach religion, unless your teaching history and that religion is part of the history course.

i would love to take a wicca class or something. but like if u live in the states that is illegal, unless you went to private school

Like people said already. Although it's not fair that Wicca isn't taught you have to keep in mind that it's one of the less popular religions. Also for it to be taught there would have to be people who are willing to learn it, and people who are willing to each it. Think about it if say your school desides to begin to teach it and only you and a few other people are willing to learn it then do you really think the school board(or whatever kind of adminisstration you have) is going to pay a teacher for a class that not many people are taking? I doubt it. But then again you have a point most religions SHOULD be taught. Even in a dominated on religion school

like i said above, not neseraly just wicca, any pagan relegion, ik in some high schoolsthey teach greek mythology, but that rare 1% of 5 billion would like to see their own relegion taought in schools =P. but like it still angers me that they dont, ik many people that would take the class, even if there christian, and to teach it, just find a text book about pagan or go to some random pagan website, thats pretty much all you need :/

and i apreciate all your awnsers. i need these awnseres for a report im doing for school [an uber mini thesis esay]
