Awhile back i annonced i was pregnat well i had my baby on 20th aug 2009. he arrived 13 days late for all those interested here's my birth story. Mw means midwife.Piccie of Jack Andrew at the bottom.
On the monday i was booked in for my sweep as i was 10 days overdue, midwife said my cervix was still a bit hard and she could only fit the tip of her finger through, she hooked me up to the moniter for 20 minutes then she let me go home. she said to call delivery suite 7pm on weds for induction.
called at 7 they told me to come in after a couple of hours the mw came to see me took my bp and everything she gave me an internal said i was 1 cm dilated she gave me a pessiry. through the whole night started to get really bad stomach cramps(still in mat unit). managed to sleep for about an hour. in the morning another mw gave me another internal sais i was 1.5 cm dilated and gave me another pessiry. cramps became alot worse. by 2pm mw gave me another internal i was 2 cm dilated but by then started to get strong and painful cramps (later found to be contractions) by 3 they moved me to the delivery suite as contractions were getting closer and longer.
Midwife on delivery suite hooked me up to a tens machine which for me did work but by 7 contractions so painful was given gas and air. gas and air was disgusting so gave it back and at 8 they gave me pethadine. pethadine was fantastic they done internal was 3cm dilated they told me to go for walk. at 9:45 they broke my waters, told me to go for another walk got 100 foot away and pain was so bad i kept saying i cant do this and i wanna go home. got to the bed mw told me to try the birthing ball i sat on it and all i kept saying was i need a poo, every time i had a contraction i felt as though i needed to push. Mw kept saying i didnt and that i had awhile to go, they put me on the bed and told me to get on all fours telling me baby was back to back and that it would help to relieve some of the pain. mw then suggested to go for a bath and that should help ease some of the pain as well. so one of the mw went to run the bath, i finally managed to turn on all fours and the pain got stronger mw said she wanted to check the baby position to see if it had changed before i get in the bath. they managed to turn me over onto my back. by this point my partner and sister were moving all my stuff into another delivery suite which had the bath. they just left the room and mw started internal she said i was fully dilated and got anothe mw to get my partner back in the room.
After 13 minutes of pushing my baby boy was born at 11.13pm on Thursday weighing 6 lbs 15oz. 12 minutes later i gave birth to the placenta without an injection. this was my first labour according to my notes my labour lasted 1 hour 28 minutes.
