Is the media in the United States being too critical of Adam Lambert's performance at the AMA's? Is it because he is gay or was it too racy? Lady Gaga broke wine bottles and Janet Jackson grabbed crotch in the same awards show.

When certain news channels covered it, they blurred out the kiss between Lambert and his drummer; however, they showed Britney and Madonna kissing in the same segment without and blurring.

Double standard? Discuss!

There's a definite double standard.
It's because males dominate most industries.
And to most of them "lesbians are so hot but when guys kiss I want to hurt them." In the words of my father. I never told him I'm a lesbian but the one time I had a friend over he offered us twenty bucks to make out for him. She's like ultimate straight girl.
People also don't usually think of girls as lesbians.
They tend to think of them as experimenting or just having a good time or whatever.
Like at my high school the big thing is being "bisexual" and girls kissing girls at parties but not truly being a lesbian or a bisexual.
If a guy kisses a guy people tend to think he's serious and it scares them.
People know Madonna and Brittany aren't seriously lesbians. They were "just doing it for the show"
But people know Adam Lambert is openly gay. I think even with liberal hollywood, that makes people more judgemental towards him.

Definitely a double standard. And the interview I saw with (at least I think it was) CBS, the woman who was interviewing him was SOOO judgemental. Like, asking him what the youth of America would think etc. It was because he is an OPENLY GAY man, and UK society's definition of homosexuality basically comes down to "lesbians r hawt hurr sh00t da gayzZzZ"
I believe it's up to the parents to supervise what their children are seeing, and although it was unpredictable, worse and more controversial things have happened at award ceremonies. If you have such a problem with your kids seeing this kinda stuff, TAKE AWAY MUSIC TELEVISION, A TON OF MUSIC VIDEOS THAT ARE ON ARE A LOT MORE RACY.
As Adam Lambert clearly stated, he doesn't intend to be a rolemodel.
AND though I'm from the UK and have no idea of American society, and I'm not bashing Ke$ha here, coz I %^&#ing love her, but her song TiK ToK was HUGE, and has anyone listened to those lyrics? It's not all visual.
Just my input.

Hmm. At first I thought this was a double standard. But, didn't the show go out at like 6pm or mid evening time? And the Madonna and Britney show alot later like 9pm+ - or have I been misinformed? If it is true though like I do think it was a bit in your face and extremely sexual for that time of day. It made my cringe so bad watching it, because imo he's just playing the massive gay stereotype. Bands like Dangerous Muse are taking the gay scene in Music to new places. I ****ing love them :).

I actually like Adam Lamberts music, especially soaked because it was written by Matt Bellamy from Muse. But for me his performance was just a bit tasteless in places. The kiss genuinely looked painful for the other guy, in my head i was like "uh well thats r.ape"...
