Tbh, i really dont see the point in all these wars.
I mean why cant all the political leaders accept that not all people that live in the middle east are terrorists, and why cant everyone work together to try to do something about Al Qaeda instead of just punishing innocent people that live in iraq! Also, because of this stupid war, it means that all the people in the army/raf/etc are being harmed too!

Why does everyone have to resort to violence :(

oh good, this is where I end up being the only one behind it as usual isn't it? I think we went too far but I also think the world is a much better place with Hussein out of power, but I think largely thanks to the USofA it's ****edthings up considerably now

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd voice my opinion anyway.

So many people said the war was really because of oil. The reason that Bush and Blair gave was weapons of mass destruction. Fair enough, if a dictator as dangerous and (lets face it) insane as Sadam is building weapons that could possibly reach as far as Cyprus, where Britain has military bases, then I reckon thats a good enough reason to go topple this tyranical leader.

Funny thing is though, they were completely wrong; there were no WMD's and the whole idea that such a backward and starving nation could produce them is absolutely ridiculous.

Don't know if anyone noticed but after they realised there were no WMD's they started to say they went to war to get rid of Sadam.

It's all politics. And probably mostly to do with Bush wanting to finish the work that his father didn't in the First Gulf war. And Oil of course. But I think Blair genuinely believed WMD's were being constructed. Pretty damn stupid I reckon.

Anyway, we did get rid of an awful totalitarian so thats good. Whats bad is that we didn't deal with the fact that we were going to have to reconstruct the country after we'd blown it to hell. Plus, we didn't bank on Islamic fundamentalists coming in from Syria and Iran. We didn't look forward enough, thats the reason we're in this mess.

getting rid of saddam was a GOOD move made by the bush/blair. but we have been there for years.

It is now up to the iraqi people to sort themselves out. yes even though i do not agree with it, i do believe we should still be there. but in britain there are still sending out thousands of soldiers.

My brother is due to be posted out there soon, and for what, to make their presense known?
